I am looking for info on teeth grinding/tongue thrusting.
I have read somewhere that this is caused by parasites.
Has anyone heard this? and where?
What are effective holistic treatments?

... and now for a serious reply.
I'd not heard the parasites bit.
I had heard of it being cause by various nervous and stress related sources.
I've even heard of it being a miasma in rare cases.
Now see, I'm one of these goofs who bites the inside of her cheek in her sleep when she's stressed and that hurts like hell =P
I'd honestly speak to a naturopath and possibly even an actupuncturist if it were me.

Havent heard the words tongue thrusting since I was a kid...
And yes, I was treated for this odd disorder then. My two front teeth were beginning to "buck" in my early teens. I think I was actually about 9 when my parents decided to have something done. I remember going to a specialist who gave me excercises for my tongue. It was more just to get me to be conscious of where my tongue was in my mouth at all times...
I have laughed over this so many times since. But at the time I remember being embarrased and concerned. The tongue should rest (on the top of your mouth - no where near your teeth). And honestly mine still doesnt to this day. Mostly when I am not speaking and my mouth is closed my tongue rests towards my top front teeth. That is what feels comfortable for me. I think that you might ask your dentist for referrals? And certaintly a naturopath and an accupuncturist wouldent hurt.
Is there any TMJ stuff happening?

There is a lot of info that shows that these are a combined effect of poor stress management (mostly regarding the tongue thrusting) and a shortage of proper self-expression (both, but mostly the teeth grinding) in your life somewhere. Hypnotherapy has helped a ton of people with the stress reduction and assertive expression that removes these conditioned responses.

Take care, Hope. Let the tribe know if we can do anything to help.

    Much peace,
