I ask myself, am I living an engaged life?
I am exercising several days a week. I go to school to use my mind. I have people in my life who care about me and I care about. I have a career I am working on that is meaningful and ever evolving. I love my life. I love being physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually healthy. I don't take it for granted as I spent my 20's feeling numb, depressed, shut down. My energy is way up because I got it flowing. I learned that I needed to express my anger, sexuality, joy, goodness, etc... With like minded folks. I put myself in places that I could and continue to do that. I have gifts that not everyone has. I am very empathetic and I care about the health of everyone. I can work in situations where I use those gifts. A small thing but it's huge actually, people don't know how to eat. A lot of people eat to survive but they are not eating for healthy and optimal functioning. I can help with that. As a society we are not even eating with sanity yet. I can teach people how to eat. We also don't move enough, I can teach people how to move.
Are you living an engaged life?
My engaged life includes: relationships that are a joy to be in. Where we are kind and funny and good to each other for a long time. This world is one where I have meaningful work that benefits humanity. This world is an engaged world, where I am and fully present with all that I encounter.

Re: Are you living an engaged life?
Fri, October 16, 2009 - 9:10 AMI know for now I'm living an engaged life for me. I work fulltime, go to massage school, dance/perform when the opp comes up, spend quality time with my husband and myself, engage in community activities like yoga classes or other social events. I know I too spent a part of my life in the darkness, but I appreciate everything so much more now. I definitely have a different, vibrant energy flowing through me these days and I'm so mindful, it scares me! (in a good way of course)
In class last night, my teacher asked all of us to share what we plan or envision for ourselves when we're done with our massage program. I explained how I don't really want a plan. I want to see how everything unfolds naturally and organically. I feel like I've always HAD to HAVE a plan and these days I'm steering away from that a bit. It feels liberating, but also grounding because I know I made this choice for myself in order to feel joy, freedom, acceptance and confidence. I feel very aligned with it all over! -

Re: Are you living an engaged life?
Fri, October 16, 2009 - 11:17 AMThat's Awesome Liz.
I was just thinking about plans and planning as I am coming to the end of my masters program and I feel some anxiety about what's next. I am trying to see what organically comes up. I have some fears about the future, but so far everything has worked out so I am having faith that the next step will become apperant when it needs to. I am doing so much work I do need a little break.
I'm up in San fran for a conferance next wed-sunday, let's try to connect then. I'll be in San Rafeal during the day at least. I think this conferance will give me some ideas of my next step. The conferance is about science and non-duality and one of the topics is doer and no-doer, IE. I think it's letting source ( god, life) be done through us. And then having the awareness that we are collaberating, participating in this doing. I am attracted to the concept but don't fully understand it. But I get to live it so that may be enough. -

Re: Are you living an engaged life?
Mon, October 19, 2009 - 4:00 PMdon't worry Aschleigh...stay centered in the spiritual life and everything will work out.
the entire universe will bend to our will in order to give us the opportunities to live a spiritual life. It doesn't seem so, but it is...
not always an easy road...but the only one worth living..
best wishes,
May You Be Happy! -
